I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For…. Kale? {My Whole30 Journey 2.0}

whole304You know that moment when you look at the mountainous accumulation of laundry and absolutely cannot ignore it for another minute? Or the day you finally break down and scrub your shower, clean out your garage, or deep clean your refrigerator? Well, we had one of those moments a few weeks ago. I’m pretty sure it was over a delicious dessert (we’ve had a lot of those floating around lately!), when my husband and I finally decided it was time to do the Whole30 again. Not because we can’t abstain from dessert (in theory…), or cut carbs, or eat more veggies, but because we’ve lost appreciation for good, healthy, wholesome food.

Raising My Little Control Freak {By A Control Freak, For A Control Freak}

controlfrk1“The apple doesn’t fall far,” my husband will chuckle to me after a power struggle with our 4-year-old going on 35-year-old. I sigh. “It’s not my fault.” He just looks at me. “Ok, maybe it’s my fault, but it’s not my fault!” And it’s not. I didn’t teach her to be a control freak… I didn’t have to. Just like I didn’t have to teach her how to be affectionate, sensitive, or the most compassionate child I’ve ever met. These things happen naturally; they are apart of her God-given character. However, just like any other strong qualities, they need to be shaped and guided to reach their full potential.

Busy Mom’s Guide: DIY Baby Photos

diybaby1newlogoMy Little Mr. turned 6 months old this week! He has grown so fast, his rosy, pudgy, melt-your-heart face hardly resembles the frail 7lbs 4oz infant he was just a few short months ago. If you’re a mom you know what I mean. They weren’t joking when they said it goes too fast! Which is why capturing every unique growth spurt is so incredibly important… and expensive. A typical infant session ranges these days between $200-$400!! I don’t know about you, but that’s wayyy too much to be dropping on photos every three months. There must be a better way. And there is! Enter, DIY pro-looking baby photos. And the best part? They’re free!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! {Quick & Easy, Yummy Fun}

stpats1I just love St. Patrick’s Day. I always have, ever since my brother ruined my sister’s St. Patty’s Day pot roast (yes I know, not corned beef, but the sweet girl was only 8 so cut her some slack) by dumping in a ton of green food coloring to make it match the party. Needless to say green pot roast, potatoes and carrots is less than appetizing… We all had something else for dinner. He ate that pot roast for days. But he wasn’t completely off target. Dying everything green is a great way to celebrate! Just not the meat – gross.

So here are my list of must-haves and dos for a fun, easy St. Patrick’s Day! Ready? Here we go!

Bailey’s Non-Alcoholic Irish Cream 5 Ways

baileys1It was a match made in heaven the day I met Bailey’s Non-Alcoholic Irish Cream. We were at my husband’s grandmother’s house for the weekend when she introduced me to this amazing concoction. Smooth, creamy, rich, sweet – everything you want in thick Irish cream (minus the alcohol of course :)). I don’t normally like my coffee sweetened but this little bottle changes the rules when it visits my house. It’s so good, however, that I couldn’t just limit it to my coffee. Hence, I give you Bailey’s Non-Alcoholic Irish Cream 5 different ways! This post is not sponsored, I just love this stuff so much! Brace yourself for the temptation – it’s coming! Continue reading

Why Do I Worry?

worry1The dreaded news came to my house today. As soon as the word hit my ears my stomach began to churn in nervous fear: lice. I know, it’s not cancer, but to a mom of little kids, this word holds an incredible amount of terror. We had been exposed, now it was time to check and wait and re-check and keep waiting and hope and pray and check again… until you are beyond positive that enough time has passed that it is no longer a threat. I never considered myself a worry-inclined person, I don’t struggle with anxiety, and my -most of the time- instant response to situations is ‘God’s in control’. So why is this hitting me so hard? Why am I so paralyzed by fear? It doesn’t help that my head is itching just thinking about it….
