Easy Crowd-Pleasers for Your Super Bowl Party

Mommy Confession: I love football! I really, really do. It’s actually, somewhat embarrassing. I also love parties! Planning them, preparing for them and hosting them, they are one of my favorite things in the world. These two passion combined make for one of the best (or worst, depending on who wins…!) days of the year in my house… we love the Super Bowl! Over the years I’ve compiled a few of my favorite super-easy crowd-pleasing yummies to help you throw the best Super Bowl party yet.

Over the years, my husband and I have hosted tons of football parties for our friends and church youth group. We always add to the invite, ‘bring something to share’! What we began to realize, however, is that the universal football dish – apparently – is chips and salsa. Oh yes – or Dorritos. This discovery was particularly ironic when we had already made and were serving nachos. Chips, chips and more chips! So now I try to change things up a bit. I’m not very good at wings and several of our party-attendees are gluten-free so pizza is out… so we’ve had to get creative.

Thsb1.jpgese are by far the most amazing homemade Potato Wedges we’ve ever tried! They are incredibly simple, super healthy (depending on the kind of oil you use) and AHHH-MAZINGLY good! Serve with sea salt and ketchup or spice things up a bit with a toppings bar of bacon bits, cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce or sour cream and chives. They are sure to be a big hit! So these little darlings aren’t gluten-free, but they certainly added to our table’s popularity! I’m pretty sure they were all gone in the first 2 minutes of the 1st quarter. The sugar cookies are a simple, no-chill recipe (here’s my go-to favorite: Best Sugar Cookie Recipe Ever) that we cut out with a leaf cookie cutter. They are soft and chewy and delicious… but the best part about this cookie is by far the frosting. Isn’t it always?

sb2.jpgThis Easy Chocolate Buttercream is by far the yummiest, fudge-iest, most delicious chocolate frosting you will ever taste in your life. It’s the simplest recipe, but it does take some time, so give yourself a couple of hours, as it has to chill. It also melts easily, so keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. It may be a little on the high-maintenance side but it is absolutely worth it for that taste!

Back to pleasers for your gluten-free guests, this Chex Mix, commonly known as ‘White Trash Mix’ or ‘Christmas Crack’, is a holiday treat that in my opinion, is severely neglected the rest of the year. Surprise your friends with a delicious treat they aren’t expecting to enjoy outside of Christmas parties and mix it up a bit, using your favorite team’s colors for M&M’s!  Find my favorite recipe here.
